Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs

Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs was a joint project of the Goethe-Institut and Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship, funded by the Federal Foreign Office. The aim of the project was to enable and to foster cultural entrepreneurial spirit. We enabled arts and cultural organisations to be more entrepreneurial so that they can shape a better society. This was done through a global network of hubs in which local creatives drive culture and business. Feel free to contact us if you would like to learn more about Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs, our past activities and our plans for the future.

What is Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs?

A hub in the entrepreneurial sense is a kind of greenhouse for start-ups. In this protected environment, teams with innovative business ideas can be consulted and trained. Hubs are contact points for entrepreneurial thinking and acting people, in which they share, network and mutually benefit from one another. The Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs of the Goethe-Institut will become centers for creative industry activities in which the start-up consultants will advise teams from the cultural and creative industries scene and work with them on their respective start-up ideas.

Who set this up?

‘Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs’ is co-created and implemented by a consortium consisting of the Goethe-Institut, the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship and funded by the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. The cooperating partners will first establish Cultural Entrepreneurship Hubs at individual worldwide locations of the Goethe-Institut in Johannesburg, Thessaloniki and Jakarta to train start-up consultants for the cultural and creative industries. The international hubs offer consulting and training to business founders in the creative sector and set up a network with the creative industries scene in Germany.

Training Start-up Consultants

General goal of this program is to empower creative und cultural start-ups within the local Goethe-Institut. We identify start-up teams from the creative industries scene, advise them in all entrepreneurial matters and qualify them for market entry. We enable them to scale on an international level.
To set up these Hubs we follow the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship innovation process in order to learn more about the local creative industry scene and to collaborate on every level possible. Find out more
